So I finally made it to the movies again last night. I think I've gone to the theatre a total of 2 times since I've lived in Atlanta....some of you may think that's outrageous, but I just don't have the motivation to shell out the mula on the majority of new films. 'No Country for Old Men' was definitely an exception though, and the Cohen brothers didn't disappoint. I was completely immersed in the story the whole way through, save brief moments that featured the elderly mother-who, in my humble opinion, did nothing but disrupt the flow of the film. But that aside, you know it's a winner when I can maintain my interest (and stay awake!) through a midnight show.
Of course this all caused my 'secret' desire to be a film maker resurface...only to be followed shortly thereafter by the realization that I just don't have enough time at this stage of my life to take on another media. Maybe soon I'll stumble upon a film making friend who I can achieve my 'film maker cravings' through vicariously. The offer is on the table.
Besides that, I'm hard at work on my bike frame for the Sopo Bicycle Auction and I have to say it's looking great! I'm pretty thrilled about the way it's turning out....and may even have to make one for myself after all this is over. I'm also going to be featured in Dark Sky Magazine, a DIY online magazine out of Charleston that I stumbled across one afternoon. They'll have some of my artwork up on their site in about 2 weeks, so be sure to check back for more info.
On the music front, I started playing with my new loop pedal this afternoon and soon realized that I need at least another cable or two to get the ultimate experience...and then my damn headphones broke...so I just went back to playing/singing in normal Lindsay fashion. I'm happy to report that 'Holiday' is near completion (in fact I debuted it at my Athens show last weekend and improvised the end), and my other 2 new songs are shaping up. And I discovered a band today: Margot and the Nuclear So & So's...they're really great and everybody should check them out.
Anyways, back to real life.
